Thomás Seoige with 1 of the 2 Francies he won on Sunday night

Clones Film Festival 2008 finished on a huge high on Sunday night at a packed Francie Awards ceremony. A record breaking audience in the Lennard Arms Hotel waited patiently for the results of The 2nd Scanbitz Short Film Challenge after watching the 5 films that were made in the town over the weekend.Thomás Seoige (left) with Little Warrior Films won both the audience and jury awards for their film Moustache, a 5 minute comic gem on the subject of loss and yearning, which judges decided was a triumph of short film making and achieved with style and clarity exactly what it set out to do. Once again the festival was presented with 5 films, which, in the words of jury member Kevin Allen, were admirable in the scope of their ambition and achievement. Other Francies presented on the night were Best Short Drama to Together by Mary Keane and Best Documentary to What I Am by Fiona Hynes. Everybody was a winner at this year's festival, with record crowds and satisfied film buffs enjoying all the festival had to offer.
