| Since its inception in 2001, Clones Film Festival has grown in many ways. It has developed from a three day event to a five day one. We now own our equipment which has allowed us to set up a film society (Clones Film Club), and to assist other festivals and groups like The Patrick Kavanagh Centre, Mid-Ulster Film Festival, Skerries Film Festival etc. We have increased the number and range of films we show over the course of the festival and, having started with one, we now use up to 5 screens during the festival. We also look to add many other events to the festival so that it is fun for all, for example the fireworks display celebrating our 5th festival, the Butcher Boy 10th birthday celebrations, the Festival Club, exhibitions and workshops to name just a few. All this takes a huge commitment from our voluntary committee and no small amount of finance. We have been supported from the start by Monaghan County Council, with the The Arts Council of Ireland coming on board in year two. But the most encouraging support we receive is from the local and ex-pat business community of Clones and the surrounding area. Even in straightened times they have always been ready to donate sponsorship and resources to ensure the success of the festival. Without them, we would not be planning our 8th festival, - it's as simple as that.
