Each year, Clones Film Festival screens a range of films aimed at second level language students.

We have shown films in Irish, German, French and Spanish in conjunction with the IFI Education Programme.

To date we have shown award-winning, influential and memorable films such as ‘The Lives of Others’, ‘The Orphanage’, ‘Kings’, ‘The Choir’, ‘The Edukators’ and ‘Volver’. Often, study guides for these films are available online at www.ifi.ie.

The screenings are primarily aimed at school groups but are open to the public.

This year, screenings will take place at 10.00am on Friday 28 October 2011. Entry is 5 euros per student. Teachers go free.

They will be screened at 2 screens comprising the Lennard Arms Hotel and the newly restored Clones Courthouse. Early booking is recommended.

The titles for this year's festival are as follows:

French:

Panique au Village (Belgium, 2009) (A Town Called Panic)

Animated plastic toys like Cowboy, Indian and Horse have problems, too. Cowboy and Indian's plan to surprise Horse with a homemade birthday gift backfires when they destroy his house instead. Surreal adventures take over as the trio travel to the center of the earth, trek across frozen tundra and discover a parallel underwater universe where pointy-headed (and dishonest!) creatures live. With panic a permanent feature of life in this papier mâché town, will Horse and his girlfriend ever be alone?

Irish

Once again, we will screen a compilation of the best Irish-language short films currently available. Titles to be confirmed.

Please note that, unfortunately, no German or Spanish films will be shown this year. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.
