Fans of Clones Film Club might like to note that the next date for your diary is fast approaching. On Saturday 13 March we will screen 'Heart of Fire' at 8pm in The Courthouse, followed by a wine and cheese reception in The Lennard Arms Hotel.

'Heart of Fire' (2009) is a German-Austrian drama about the use of child soldiers and is worth seeing for a remarkable performance by its 10-year-old lead actress. Set in 1981, the picture recounts how a headstrong youngster is abruptly handed over to rebel forces during Eritrea's struggle for independence. The girl, Awet (Letekidan Micael), may be small, but she's bright and skeptical, and not reluctant to direct hard questions at authorities.
She gets a firsthand look at the horrors of war, and, though browbeaten into supporting the cause, comes to doubt the value of a conflict in which rebel factions spend as much time fighting each other as battling their common enemy.
The film is based on a memoir by Senait G. Mehari about her experiences as a child soldier with the Eritrean Liberation Front.

Tickets are 7 euros / 5 euros (concession).

Thanks again to all those who came along to our last film in February. We are very encouraged by our growing audiences and the enthusiastic response from our supporters and look forward to bringing you many more cinematic treats!
