Clones Film Festival are delighted and excited to announce a major coup and a first for the festival; a sneak preview at the work of two of the major creative forces at work in Ireland today. ‘The Man from God Knows Where’ is an original screenplay written by Kevin Allen & Pat McCabe and will be performed as a rehearsed reading by a wealth of local acting talent, including Peter Trant, (The Revenant), James Sheerin, Margaret McMahon, Kathleen Connolly, Pat McCabe himself and other seasoned performers, all under the directorial eye of Kevin Allen. Commissioned by Parallel Films - in association with the Irish Film Board – the movie is scheduled to be shot in around Scotshouse and Clones next summer. Set upon a riverside idyll in County Monaghan, it tells the chilling story of a stranger who, by virtue of a not so well kept secret, wheedles his way into the home of an ordinary rural family and changes their lives forever. ‘The Man from God Knows Where’ conjures up a thrilling tale about a ruthless, enigmatic man, Colm Cleary, as he sets about finding some hidden money at deceased Clay McCarrick’s dilapidated small holding. Strangely enticed by the alluring pastoral bliss Clay has left behind, Colm craftily sets about enchanting his way into the heart of Clay’s desperate wife, Mary, and into the confidence of his children Sean and Katie. But while Mary naively takes Colm in with open arms, wily young Sean is the only one who knows the whereabouts of the hidden money – and proves to be more than a match for The Man from God Knows Where. Both Pat and Kevin will be available for a Q&A session after the reading. Space is limited at the Courthouse venue on Friday 23rd October at 7pm so to ensure a seat contact info@clonesfilmfestival.com or call our info line 086 0365880 |
