Barry Devlin to introduce his new feature 'A Kiss for Jed Wood' at Clones Film Festival
Friday 28 October holds a treat in store for fans of Barry Devlin and Horslips, when Barry himself will be in town to introduce his latest feature film 'A Kiss for Jed Wood'.
The film follows nineteen year old Orla from Country Antrim, who wins the TV show 'Follow a Star'. Her prize is a quest - to find C&W star Jed Wood, give him a kiss, and report on her adventure on the following week's show. Ray Timmons, a middle aged documentary cameraman, is the only person available to document her on her quest. Together they travel to New York, meet up with a jaded sound recordist, Mike, and set about chasing down Jed - arriving at film sets, recording studios, everywhere Jed is due to be. Their progress is followed by a couple of DJs on a local radio station. During the week the chase continues, their relationship changes, and they learn a lot about each other and bout pursuing their own dreams, before they return to face the music back home.
The film is co-written by Barry Devlin and Maurice Linnane, who also directs.
As many will already know, Barry decided not to be a priest and became a rock star instead and that changed all our lives really. After that he wrote and directed. First commercials and pop promos, then scripts and films. ‘Lapsed Catholics’, ‘Soul Survivors’, ‘All Things Bright and Beautiful’, ‘A Man of No Importance’ and on and on. Barry lives in a house where James Joyce once taught. Which is only right and proper.
Clones Film Festival is delighted to welcome Barry back to Clones for a night of celebration of his work, as well as general CFF 10th birthday fun, which will include a very special live gig following the screening of 'A Kiss for Jed Wood'. Those of you who were at a certain gig in the Lennard Arms in February will recall the lineup on that night. Paddy Goodwin & The Holy Ghosts featuring Horslips legend Johnny Fean plus a host of special guests have confirmed that they will once again play the Lennard, late night, on Friday 28 October. Enough said! Tickets for this night of celebrations will surely sell out fast so stay tuned to Facebook and www.clonesfilmfestival.com for all the details.
